21 TO 25 JANUARY 2027 · BYRON BAY HINTERLAND
What becomes possible when two people choose to become more conscious together?
Four nights away from ordinary life to explore yourself, your relationship and what else might be available between you.
Breath. Meditation. Somatic and energy work. Intimacy. Conscious relationship. Nature. Rest. Play.
8 couples · 4 nights · 22 acres · 15 minutes from Byron Bay
THE INVITATION
Love is something we can practise.
We spend years learning how to do almost everything that matters to us. And yet most of us were never taught how to consciously be in love.
We fall in love, build lives, raise families and change alongside each other, often carrying patterns formed long before we met the person beside us. Soma creates the space to notice.

Who are you inside your relationship?
Where do you open and where do you protect?
How available are you for honesty, intimacy, pleasure and love?
And what becomes possible when you stop trying to change the person in front of you and become curious about the person you bring to them?

INDIVIDUAL FIRST, THEN TOGETHER
The relationship changes when the people inside it change.
Some experiences at Soma happen together. Others deliberately take you apart. There is work with the men. Work with the women. And work that belongs only to you.
Because not everything that appears inside a relationship belongs to the relationship. When we begin to recognise what is ours, there is less for our partner to carry and more freedom to meet each other as we are now.
Then we come back together. Not perfected. More present.
WHAT WE EXPLORE
The body
What happens beneath the words.
Consciousness
Seeing the patterns we have stopped seeing.
Intimacy
Presence, touch, attraction, receiving and being seen.
Energy
What each of us brings into the space between us.
Relationship
Honesty, responsibility, repair and choice.
Pleasure
Pleasure, laughter, lightness and being alive together.
Through breath, meditation, Kundalini Yoga, somatic practice, energy work, movement and conscious relationship teachings. Nothing is performed. Nothing is forced. You remain at choice throughout.
You don't need a broken relationship to come.
You may be deeply in love. You may feel stuck in something you both understand but haven't quite shifted.
You may want more intimacy, more pleasure, more honesty or simply more of each other. Or nothing may be particularly wrong. You just know there is more available.
Soma is about evolution, not dysfunction.
THE PLACE
Four nights outside ordinary life.
No school runs. No deciding what is for dinner. No rushing from one thing into another. Instead there is forest, morning practice, long breakfasts, beautiful food, water, rest, conversation, laughter, time apart and time together.
Soma sits across twenty two acres of bamboo and lychee forest in the Byron Bay hinterland, only fifteen minutes from Byron Bay. Only eight couples. Enough space for something different to emerge.

DAILY RHYTHM
How a day moves.
There is structure, but there is also space. We are not interested in filling every hour simply because you have come on retreat.
6:30
Morning practice
Kundalini, breath, meditation and movement as the day opens.
8:30
Breakfast
A long, unhurried breakfast together.
10:00
The day's work
Conscious relationship, somatic and energetic work, breath and embodied practice. Sometimes individually. Sometimes with the men and women separately. Sometimes together.
1:00
Open afternoon
Swim. Sauna. Sleep. Walk. Read. Have a one to one session. Spend time together or apart. This space is part of the retreat.
6:00
Evening
Dinner, then conversation, meditation, sound, breath, fire or stillness. There is depth at Soma. There is also a lot of laughter.
WHAT BECOMES POSSIBLE
More choice
Recognising the old reaction before it takes over.
More of yourself
Being fully yourself without moving away from the relationship.
More honesty
Saying what is true without needing the other person to be wrong.
More intimacy
Greater presence in your own body and greater availability to another.
More pleasure
Laughter, flirtation, pleasure and aliveness.
Something you can take home
Because the relationship that matters is the one waiting for you on an ordinary Tuesday.
WHO HOLDS THE SPACE
We are in this too.
Rachael + Andy Seymour

We are married, parents of four, and very much inside this practice ourselves.
We know the intimacy and the irritation. The ease and the triggers. The seasons where two people move beautifully together, and the seasons where they need to find each other again.
We also bring very different perspectives to Soma, and deliberately so.
Rachael brings more than twenty years across consciousness, meditation, Kundalini Yoga, breath, somatics, energy and transformational learning. She holds a qualification in Spiritual Psychology and is completing her final year of training with Somatic Experiencing International.
Andy is a physiotherapist and breathwork facilitator with a deep interest in the brain, human performance and the science of flow states. He brings a grounded, curious perspective to the way breath, physiology and state influence how we experience ourselves and each other, alongside a natural ability to make the work accessible to people who may be encountering it for the first time.
We are not interested in showing you how to have a relationship like ours. We want to create enough space for you to discover what is possible inside yours.

Cassi Varga
Cassi co founded The Energy Studio with Rachael and has been part of Soma from the beginning. She holds individual bodywork and one to one sessions throughout the retreat, creating a private space to land and integrate between the group experiences.

WHAT COUPLES SAY
Some of what people carried home.
"We weren't in a bad place. Soma just reminded us there was so much more available."
"I was definitely the sceptical one. By day two, I was completely in."
"I came thinking we would work on our relationship. I ended up understanding myself."
"I didn't expect to laugh so much. It was deep, but it was also just really good fun."
"I hadn't realised how much of our sexual energy had disappeared into everyday life. It felt like we found that part of us again."
"We still use what we learnt at Soma, mostly in the ordinary moments when we would normally fall into the same old pattern."
QUESTIONS COUPLES ASK US
Absolutely. You do not need to arrive with the same beliefs, experience or enthusiasm. Scepticism is welcome. What matters is willingness. If one person is coming purely because they have been pressured into fixing themselves, Soma probably isn't the right experience.
No. Nothing is extracted and there is no expectation that you tell your story publicly. There are group experiences, individual experiences and work you will do privately with your partner. You remain at choice throughout.
Yes. Soma is about evolution, not dysfunction. You don't need to wait until your relationship is struggling before you give it this kind of attention. Sometimes the most beautiful reason to come is simply that you love what you have and want to keep discovering what else is possible.
Soma can create meaningful space for couples who feel disconnected or caught in recurring patterns, provided both people genuinely want to be there. It is not a substitute for clinical relationship therapy or crisis support. If you are unsure, speak with Rachael before booking and we can decide together whether this is the right environment for you.
That's completely fine. There is no previous experience required and nothing to be good at. Everything is taught, options are given and you are encouraged to listen to your own body throughout.
No. We explore intimacy, energy, attraction, touch and embodied connection as parts of conscious relationship, but Soma is not a tantra retreat and there is no overt sexual activity within the group work.
All meals are included and prepared by Burbury. Let us know your dietary requirements when booking and we will work with the team to accommodate them.
