Beyond the Crown: The Higher Centres of Consciousness

Remembering Your Private Compass
Most of us have heard of the seven chakras.
They've become part of modern wellness culture, often associated with colours, emotions and different aspects of our physical and emotional wellbeing. While I believe these centres are incredibly valuable, I've recently been exploring a teaching that has opened an entirely new perspective for me.
What if the seven chakras are only the beginning?
What if there are higher centres of consciousness that become available, not because we become more spiritual, but because we begin to remember who we truly are?
This idea resonated deeply with me because it aligns beautifully with everything I teach through meditation, breathwork, Kundalini and Somatic Experiencing.
Consciousness Doesn't Need Improving
One thing I have come to believe is this:
You are not becoming consciousness.
You are removing the noise that makes it difficult to recognise.
That noise can be stress.
Old survival responses.
Conditioning.
Fear.
Overthinking.
The stories we have collected throughout our lives.
As the nervous system settles and unfinished stress responses are completed, something remarkable begins to happen.
Our awareness becomes clearer.
Not because consciousness has changed.
Because we have.
Or perhaps more accurately...
Because we have stopped identifying with everything that isn't us.
Your Private Compass
I have started calling this deeper knowing our Private Compass.
It isn't intuition in the way we often think about intuition.
It isn't a loud voice telling us what to do.
It isn't something outside ourselves.
Our Private Compass is the quiet intelligence that has always been within us.
It doesn't shout.
It doesn't force.
It simply knows.
The challenge is that when life becomes noisy, it can be difficult to hear.
Perhaps the work isn't about finding your purpose.
Perhaps it's about becoming quiet enough to recognise it.
The Higher Centres of Consciousness
Many wisdom traditions describe subtle centres of awareness above the crown of the head.
Whether we call them higher chakras, higher centres or expanded states of awareness is less important than what they represent.
To me, each one represents another layer of remembering.
The Soul Star reminds us who we truly are beyond our identity, achievements and history.
The Spirit Star reconnects us with our Private Compass, helping us trust our own inner knowing instead of constantly seeking answers outside ourselves.
The Divine Mind Centre invites us beyond overthinking and into a wisdom that cannot always be explained by logic alone.
The Celestial Heart softens shame, grief and self-judgement so we can receive ourselves with greater compassion.
The Cosmic Gateway encourages us to stop shrinking and become more fully ourselves, expressing the gifts we have perhaps hidden for years.
Finally, there is what many traditions simply describe as the Creator Light.
This isn't a centre to activate.
It isn't something to earn.
It is the awareness that beneath every experience, every identity and every story, there is something within us that has never been broken.
Never diminished.
Never separate.
Perhaps Awakening Is Simpler Than We Think
I don't believe awakening is about becoming someone new.
I don't believe consciousness is something we climb towards.
I believe consciousness has always been here.
Our work is simply to remove what obscures it.
Perhaps that is why healing often feels less like becoming and more like remembering.
Remembering our worth.
Remembering our wisdom.
Remembering our compassion.
Remembering our courage.
Remembering that beneath all the noise, there is a part of us that has always known the way.
A New Way of Thinking About Growth
As I continue exploring these teachings, one idea keeps returning to me.
Maybe personal growth isn't about adding more practices, more information or more techniques.
Maybe it is about creating enough safety in the body, enough stillness in the mind and enough presence in our daily lives that our Private Compass naturally begins to guide us.
Because perhaps consciousness has never been missing.
We have simply become distracted from recognising it.
And maybe that is the invitation.
Not to become more.
But to remember.
